Home for Christmas

Administrative note:  If anyone isn't comfortable with pictures being posted of them, let us know.  :)

Our recent trip home for Christmas. In incomplete sentences and pictures.
  • Prepared 87.3 pounds of chocolate. Packed. 5:00 am wake up.   Parted with fur children and caught the bus. Geneva > Munich > Chicago > Louisville

  • Chicago. I lost our iPad. Frantic search, GPS locator activated, remote data wipe, etc. No luck. Throw up feeling. Mood changed slightly.
  • 10:30 pm. Louisville airport. Saw Adam’s parents. Received complimentary bag of Twizzlers, Dr. Pepper, Mountain Dew, Sour Patch Kids, & Pop Tarts. Picked up grey Corolla rental car. Minds were blown at how big and spacious the Corolla was. Giant compared to Wildcat.
  • Two days with my family. Consumed massive amounts of Diet Coke and sweet tea. Ruth’s Chris, first steak since August, inappropriate noises while eating… it was that good.
  • Saw Adam’s mom & step-dad.
  • Headed to the Monster’s Lair: 3 boys (ages 7, 5, & 2.5). Sore muscles. Sugar cookies. Wrestling. Wii domination. Box of ‘fireworks’ which turned out to be poppers and New Year’s confetti shooters. Tag. Dodgeball. Etc. 2.5 year old can now speak in complete sentences and run faster than me. Bad news.

  • Shopping at Costco. New Camera: Canon T2i Rebel. Awesome Christmas present to each other.

  • Email regarding dogs. Nice man on the street told them how cute they were and they apparently went into ‘gangster attack mode’. They. are. insane.  Anxious fur mom.

  • Lexington. Lunch with J & D(lived in Geneva this past Summer). Took a drive down memory lane (through campus and where we met... Lex Ave... Awwww). Shopping.
  • Cincinnati, OH. New baby B. Dinner with friends. Skyline Chili and more inappropriate eating noises from the Hughes’ side of the table.  Seriously, how cute is Baby B?

  • Dayton, OH. Dinner with L, K, & B. Played with bubbles.

  • Louisville for new haircut. Thanks A! Shopping.

  • Guy from Apple emails me: “Your iPad has been found at Chicago O’Haire. Why don’t you be a responsible iPad owner and make sure you don’t leave it sitting in the terminal next time, dummy.” Merry Christmas to us.
  • Christmas with Adam’s family. Dirty Santa game, lottery scratch off anxiety, Santa came, freezing cold golf card ride to see Christmas lights, amazing American food… and sweet tea.

  • Christmas with my family. Dirty Santa. More yummy food. Weight gain from first week = 23 pounds.

  • Food coma.
  • Christmas day. Nephews. Craziness. Played with toys, ate breakfast, played with toys, and played with more toys. Went to my parent’s house. Breakfast for dinner. Mini heart attack from bacon, biscuit, and gravy overload. Opened presents.

  • Mom’s birthday. Relaxing all day (thought for sure I was getting the flu) while Adam went to hang with his dad. Dinner at new German restaurant. So good. Food coma #14.
  • Shopping & massages for my mom, sister, and I. No further discussion. Let’s just say mine was slightly more awkward than their sessions.
  • Guns for the men. Shooting competition “Kill or Be Killed” was invented. Appropriate since they were shooting at clay things. All they needed was a forest, some red headbands, and Rambo muscles. Adam won (against two very experienced shooters) and was given the name “Red Ryder.” The other two gave themselves the names “Honey Badger” and “Top Gun.”

  • More shopping. 15th trip to Target.
  • Nephew’s again. This time we played outside since it was about 80 degrees. Deck races for the boys. Adam got caught cheating several times.

  • Back to my parent’s. Dinner, sunset, board game, goodbyes. :(

  • Spent time with Adam’s Dad. More presents.
  • Breakfast with cousins.

  • UK vs. UL basketball game. Huge rivalry. The best team won… as always. We’ve converted one of the three nephews to be a UK fan. We’re working on the other two. GO UK!!!!

  • New Year’s Eve with friends.

  • Flights back on New Year’s Day. Unshowered. TIred. Smelly. Louisville > Chicago (GOT THE iPAD BACK!!!!) > DC > Geneva.
  • Made it back. Boys were alive and hadn’t destroyed the apartment… or killed anyone.

So thankful for a great trip and getting to spend time with friends and family.

Happy New Year!

Au Revoir!
