Work it.

Today is dedicated to some of the current popular fashion trends here in Geneva.  Enjoy!

Suntan tights:
I remember wearing suntan tights once in middle school.  I think.  It could have been college, but I don't remember.  It was Winter and the suntan tights did not match my exposed skin tone.  I haven't worn them since.  Suntan tights are extremely popular here.  Remember when it used to be 'taboo' for women to not wear tights or hose to work?  I think that's kind of how it is here.  I don't mind wearing tights, but hose (the super thin type, all you men who have no idea what I'm talking about) don't go over well.  We have two beasts in our house who have wolverine claws.  And they jump.  A lot.  Check out wolverine #2 (with new haircut).  He refuses to let them be cut... by anyone.  Battles have been lost and blood has been drawn.  We were told he'd have to be 'put under' for it to happen.  In the meantime, he'll continue to destroy any tights/hose he comes across.

Kindergarten Shoes:
They're back... in color.  I used to rock the white Keds when I was little and hoped that they'd never come back in fashion.  I hated them.  My mom even had leather ones, which I equally despised.  They weren't cool and were impossible to keep clean. However, they're back and in high fashion over here (and maybe at home too?).  I actually kind of like the colored ones.  Heels don't make it out of my closet anymore.  I've literally worn heels three times in the past four months.  It's sad, but we walk everywhere which wreaks havoc on my feet (with or without heels).  I may get some of these Keds since they're flat and probably oh-so-comfy.  I also saw some cute ones at H&M.

Gypsy shoes (not sure what the official name is):
Again.  They're flat.  And amazingly comfortable.  I posted about this the other day, but I have three pairs:  tan, navy, and red-orange.  Tom's Shoes are the popular ones in the US, but I haven't seen them over here yet.  They're so cheap and don't give me blisters when I have to bike or walk eighty-seven miles.  I'm ok with this trend.  Too bad they're not very 'professional' looking.

Gypsy/Harem pants (or MC Hammer pants)
Sorry if your a gypsy and I'm doggin' your style, but...

...SERIOUSLY?!
Oh my gosh these are hideous. They also make me think the person has had an accident... or is wearing a diaper.  Pick a side: skirt or pants.  Even the size 0 model doesn't look hot.  These are so popular here and I even saw a guy wearing a black pair the other day.  I could totally use them to keep Adam away from me (or any other human).  They look quite comfy and airy... and unattractive.  The only thing that would make these pants look better is if they were paired with some black shape-ups and a side ponytail.... to distract from the pants themselves.

Leather jackets... in all seasons.
I remember when leather jackets were cool and I definitely had one.  And probably wore it for longer than it was actually cool to wear one.  The cute fashionable ones are back in style.  I bought one like this when we moved here.  It seemed to be all the rage.  And on sale.

However, it seems as though we're in 'The Matrix' here... all the time.  It doesn't matter if it's 90 degrees out.  We will see a lot of this:

Somehow I feel creeped out by the guys who wear these, zipped up to the neck (like the guy on the right).  It just makes me think they're up to no good.  I have no idea why.

Summer display at Pimkie.

Man scarf:
My friend L did a post recently about the popular death-by-asphyxiation-man-scarf.  This is another 'all season' trend.  The day that Adam wears a man-scarf will be the one where I wear harem pants.

Man-scarf rules:
Snowing = ok
< 40 degrees = ok
Winter sports = ok
anything else = no, especially not wound so tightly guys!
tank top + scarf = what's wrong with you?

Onesies, Jumpers, Jumpsuits
These are kind of in the middle for me.  They look comfy and some are cute, but I think my tree-trunk-esq figure just doesn't fit nicely into one of these.  I've seen some girls look great in them, while others... induce nightmares.
Cute.                                                                                      Not cute.
Not being one to pass judgement on these things before trying...

The leopard print makes me do obnoxious animal sounds and poses.  How flattering is this thing?!  Also, it appears that my right arm belongs to a grown man (middle picture).
Pastel floral print from head to toe?  Yes please!
I also saw these short-overalls.  They were  two sizes to small obviously, but I had to try them.  Yee-haw!
I bet my mom and sister are nearly peeing their pants and shaking their heads in shame.  My friend Danielle and I went shopping yesterday and I decided to take the opportunity to completely embarrass myself.  I mean really?  These are hideous.  I don't care how cute or skinny you are.  I don't even think I'd be ok using them as pajamas.  Maybe someday I will find a jumpsuit that doesn't make my husband want to run away.  Also, it has to be frustrating during bathroom breaks.

Tiny hats:
Really?

I've seen a few girls wear tiny hats around town.  I can safely say that you won't see me in one unless I'm going to a royal wedding or a costume party.

I'm not even sure these two tiny hats were acceptable.

I don't know if these trends are as popular back home.  Hopefully not all of them.  I'd like to get my mom in a jumpsuit and a tiny hat.  Cheap entertainment.

Au revoir!
